The Co-op Experience: Make a Difference

In addition to a project that will provide maximum experience and exposure in your desired field the Hologic College Relations team provides opportunities to learn more about the company, network with leadership, and develop the skills needed to succeed in a global organization.

 

Only active students will be considered for internships & co-ops at Hologic.  Candidates who have completed their most recent degree program will not be considered for this these opportunities.


Project Description: The primary function of the R&D Engineering Co-op will be to work directly with seasoned engineers who are responsible for the design and development of the company's next generation medical devices! This individual will support the Breast & Skeletal Health R&D team in the design, development, component selection and manufacturing implementation of numerous mechanical subsystems under development.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct tests of prototypes
  • Document test protocols and results
  • Prepare engineering documentation including CAD drawings
  • Provide R&D laboratory support, testing and instrumentation
  • Design engineering studies
  • Perform tests, collect data and interpret results
  • Have responsibility over a Design Project under supervision from an R&D engineer
  • CAD system operation
  • Prepare and update engineering documentation
  • Other duties may be assigned

In order to be considered for an opportunity at Hologic, students must possess the following:
  • Actively enrolled as a rising junior or senior 
  • Pursuing a degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Achieved a 3.2/4.0 GPA or higher
  • Rising Junior or Senior
  • Obtaining course credit for the completion of the co-op assignment
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem solving & analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong independent judgment and leadership skills
  • Must be available to work at least 6 months
