The Director, Program Management is responsible for leading new product introductions and key sustaining project activity within the Connected Services franchise (part of Hologic’s Breast and Skeletal Health Division). This is a highly visible role within the organization requiring strong leadership and influencing skills across a broad spectrum of global stakeholders.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In partnership with franchise leadership, develop portfolio of projects and a roadmap which delivers against franchise priorities. Perform portfolio and resource analysis to drive efficiency and reliability in delivering the suite of initiatives in the pipeline.
  • Lead assigned projects through the phase gate and sustaining processes, establish project objectives and work plans including scope, timing, business case, and resource requirements.  Delegate assignments to functional area team members and track key project activities to successful completion.
  • Ensure cross-functional team collaboration to optimize team strengths, while delivering commercialized products that are clear market leaders.  Ensure customer-focused design needs are at the center of decision-making process. This position is not focused solely on R&D but the end-to-end delivery into global markets with commercial excellence.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
  • Provide regular reports on project status to leadership.
  • Track risk and drive timely solutions to issues that arise.
  • Drive for project success while ensuring consistency and alignment across all product development projects. Recommend best practices and implement process improvements in consultation with PMO and other functions as appropriate.
  • In partnership with R&D and Quality, ensure all design control requirements are met in accordance with global regulatory bodies.
  • Assign and monitor work of program management staff, providing technical support and direction.
  • Provide training to all employees involved in the innovation phase gate process.
Qualifications:
 
  • Experienced and self motivated leader well-versed in managing within a matrixed organization and navigating complex reporting relationships.
  • Inspiring, open-minded and ‘can-do’ attitude which encourages innovation and embraces change.
  • Create an environment that encourages and rewards teamwork, collaboration and encourages employee engagement.
  • A proven track record of successfully implementing software development projects using Agile methodologies including management of large, complex projects in a medical device, life science or healthcare industry.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Experience in creating dashboards and statistical models.
  • Significant experience leading cross-functional new product teams with proven track record of independently, passionately, and effectively driving projects from concept to market.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional project/program management, achieving product, solution, and organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both internal and external development activities.
  • Advanced knowledge in Project Management/Leadership and Product Development.
  • Advanced knowledge of Design Control procedures in Medical Device environment.
  • Experienced in business case development and portfolio management. Role requires experience in project selection process, not just the execution of what’s been handed off.
  • Proven ability to take the complex and simplify, to distill deep detail into effective and relevant communication to stakeholders across the organization, ranging from individual team members C-suite leaders.
  • Ability to develop and follow processes with rigor while driving pragmatic and creative solutions to achieve project success.
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Suite of products including MS Project. Experience in PPM software a plus.
  • Experience with ISO and FDA quality systems regulations and medical design and development cycles.

Education:
  • BS/BA Degree required
  • MS, M.B.A or equivalent degree preferred
  • PMP Certification desirable
Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in Project / Program Management leading development programs that successful products which exceed customer and commercial expectations
  • Experience leading large cross functional global projects
  • Experience in leading both technical and commercial deliverables
  • Experience leading other project managers
  • Experience in medical device industry preferred
