Job Purpose: 
  • Own all aspects of the development of RF circuit design (1MHz to 500MHz) 50W-1000W at 100V-5000V output designs, schematic capture/layout and define system testing. Work with outside design firms to integrate and perform V&V on systems. Plan, design, simulate, verify and prototype RF medical device. Perform RF switch and RF circuit design, board design with discrete and IC components, and mixed signal design. Knowledge in RF magnetics/transformer designs and an understanding of the definition, specification and design of RF magnetics.  Develop circuit design and technical drawings. Responsible for directing and managing senior level engineers and technicians on current and future work
Key Results Area:
  • Responsible for existing and new RF system architecture support and design implementation and modification of printed circuit boards with high and low speed digital circuit interfaces. Will be the Technical lead for all RF projects. Will own product development from cradle to grave
  • Responsible for defining daily work for engineering direct report (EE and techs) and interfacing with mechanical and software engineering for the definition of requirement s for system architecture
  • Responsible for interfacing with FPGA firmware engineers and software engineers for system design and support
  • Responsible for the electrical development and modification of projects including design verification and system level integration of electronic subsystems.
  • Knowledge of IEC/UL standards for medical device product design including isolation design, compliance and product safety. 
  • Hands on experience of PCB design using Orcad Capture for schematics and PCB Editor/Allegro for proper PCB design, stack up, foot print creating, proper component placement, signal integrity, routing and PCB design guidelines, circuit simulation using Pspice and other simulation tools.
  • Understanding of EN60601 requirements/constraints for PCB and system design.

  • This position will interact with several departments within the organization.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • 10 years+ experience with RF power design in the 50-1000W RF designs
  • RF surgical system design is desired
  • Design and product support experience of systems, sub-assemblies and circuit boards is required.
  • Experience developing medical devices in an ISO and FDA regulated environment is preferred.
  • 10 years+ experience in a system design environment is required.
  • BSEE required/MS desirable.
  • 5 year’s experience managing other engineers and technicians is a requirement
