We are looking for a Lead R&D Engineer within Hologic’s Surgical Division who is highly motivated to help us drive a growing product portfolio. This opportunity will allow you to immediately impact product development teams by leading the development of innovative solutions that will have meaningful impact to our customers and patients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead technical teams and identify resources in the design and development of clinically superior products.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams that include: Clinical, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing to drive timely product launches.
  • Demonstrate good leadership qualities and ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Interact directly with customers to gather customer feedback and identify user needs.
  • Direct, coordinate, and contribute directly to manufacturing of prototype systems in support of development activities, pre-clinical activities as well as customer interface activities (tradeshows and advisory board meetings).
  • Generate and maintain product requirements and specifications.
  • Develop test methods and plan verification/validation activities to support Regulatory submissions.
  • Lead and participate in scheduled technical status meetings with engineering and leadership team.
  • Monitor progress and status of all assigned projects and proactivity access and communicate risk to management.
  • Develop product development plans and activities to account for and reduce potential technical and business risk. 
  • Build on intellectual properties with novel solutions.
  • Build relationships with internal and external partners to drive open communication.
  • Participate in cadaveric studies and observe surgical procedures.

  • Demonstrate good leadership qualities.
  • Self-motivator with willingness to seek out information and develop strengths to be successful.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Hands on CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Plastic and Machine part design.
  • Experience taking products from concept through verification and validation to launch.
  • 7+ years prior experience in research & development. (Medical device product development experience preferred)
