Job Summary

Serves as key subject matter expert on global Trade Compliance and Supply Chain Security (import, export, and related topics) within the Hologic global structure.  This position develops ,co-directs & influences the Trade Compliance and Supply Chain Security programs, processes & tools on a global basis.  Scope of work encompasses developing the playbook,  policy setting and direction; awareness and training; development, implementation and management of compliance tools; and the facilitation of internal and external assessment processes.  Serves as focal point for government audits/inquiries and is responsible for collaboration with inside and outside legal counsel.  This position is responsible for the promotion of Hologic's interests in legislative and regulatory rulemaking and represents the company in key communications with government agencies and international trade industry associations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Represents Hologic as the International Trade Compliance leader
  • Develops Global Trade Compliance Playbook, influences the supply chain & planning team to develop material data base systems for trade compliance.
  • Develops a business guideline on the countries where do the business to make we follow Trade compliance, Training & Mentoring of the regional logistics & compliance teams.
  • Develops and implements strategies, procedures and internal controls to support global Trade Compliance and Supply Chain Security.
  • Develops and maintains written trade compliance program in accordance with Hologic corporate policies on International Trade.
  • Communicates and educates stakeholders (i.e. materials, logistics, mfg, purchasing, engineering, R&D, distribution, legal, etc.) on trade compliance policies and import/export controls
  • Monitors updates in regulations and changes procedures to implement new laws.  Advises functional groups of updates to the regulations and issues guidance on how to comply with them.
  • Provides technical assistance and training to employees on relevant laws, regulations, and company policies/procedures.
  • Provides development opportunities to those responsible for trade compliance operations. 
  • Co-Directs the development and implementation of tools to enhance compliance effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Negotiates contracts with customs brokers, customs attorneys, consultants, and other service providers. Supervises their activities to control costs and ensure quality performance.
  • Advises on proposed and existing company decisions related to international business for trade compliance implications.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective auditing and surveillance programs for trade compliance and harmonization of tariff codes globally
  • Advises stake holders in the company on the impact of changes in trade-related laws in all countries in which the company has facilities, procures merchandise, or exports product.
  • Advocates for the company's interests before official government agencies with jurisdiction over international trade.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • US Customs Brokers License required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, International Affairs or related field
  • 8-10+ years’ experience in international trade or Customs laws
  • Experience in a international trade compliance firm, law firm, US Customs, Customs Brokerage firm or large multi-national business is preferred

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Subject matter expertise in both import (“customs”) and export (“export controls”), including all areas addressed in trade compliance program
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation/training skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Ability to think strategically and critically
  • Proven track record of exceeding expectations
  • Ability to effectively manage staff including off-site employees and/or key stakeholders
  • Teaching and training experience desired


  • Up to 25% travel
