Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

You will be part of an enthusiastic, dynamic, results-oriented team of mechanical, electrical, and software development engineers, scientists, and program managers working to define and develop Hologic’s best-in-class Skeletal and Interventional products. The ideal candidate is one who understands the mechanics and material selections and how they interact to fulfill product requirements.

  • Create, interpret, and manage product requirements and design specifications
  • Select materials and processes for developing a product that meets the product requirements and design specifications.
  • Propose plans for development, testing, and review
  • Propose alternative concepts to meet product definitions and evaluate them based on risk, product cost, performance, safety, and reliability considerations
  • Create and manage traceability among design requirements documents
  • Create analytic tools and simulations to model product performance
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure component designs work together to fulfill product requirements
  • Provide technical direction in the selection of mechanical and polymer materials for the engineering team
  • Ensure that design implementation, test, and maintenance methods and processes are developed and executed in a manner that supports quality standards

  • Ability to understand interactions among components in a complex system and how they affect the overall product performance
  • Ability to understand the capabilities and limitations of polymer materials and mechanical design to obtain optimum results 
  • Ability to transform physical and mathematical concepts into sound engineering designs
  • Excellent analytical and verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with physical and mathematical modeling tools
  • Familiar with US and international standards for medical devices


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ten years of experience in engineering related to medical devices or other regulated field
