Position Summary:

This is an exciting new opportunity for a Research & Development Engineer II within Hologic’s GYN Surgical Division. This opportunity will allow you to have immediate impact to product development teams creating innovative solutions that will have meaningful impact to our customers and patients. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Focus on new technology and develop solutions to design problems through the application of engineering principles, analysis, and empirical methods 
  • Contribute to intellectual property through development of innovative solutions 
  • Build relationships and communicate with cross functional team members such as quality, regulatory, manufacturing, operations, sales, and marketing to meet project goals 
  • Provide engineering support to product development teams by designing, verifying and validating solutions 
  • Create and interpret CAD models and drawings specifications to facilitate product development activities 
  • Participate in cadaveric studies and observe surgical procedures 
  • Provide hands on support related to product development activities such as: trouble shooting product and building and testing design concepts 

Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.   • 3 - 5 years experience in Research & Development
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or like
  • Fundamental knowledge of Plastic and Machine part design 
  • Hands on CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred 
  • Experience with design verification/validation process 
  • Self-motivator with willingness to seek out information and develop skill set to accomplish tasks 
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally 
Additional Desired Experience (not required) 
  • Design experience with consumable medical devices 
  • Experience in mechanism and capital equipment design 
  • Experience using GD&T and performing statistical tolerance analyses 
  • Experience with rapid prototyping methods 
  • Knowledge of medical device standards such as IEC-62366, ISO-14971, IEC-60601, ISO-10993
