Job Summary
The Process Transfer Sr. Manager role requires a combination of technical expertise as well as an established track record managing teams.  The ideal candidate is a professional who is, or has been, a hands-on product and/or process development leader for a company that develops solutions that incorporate both assay, hardware and software components.  Experience in an FDA regulated environment is desired. The Process Transfer Sr. Manager position works cross-functionally to identify areas of improvement, create projects, and gather resources for projects. This position will be responsible for managing and tracking the progress of projects where its team is a contributor to support company’s short and long-range business objectives; consults with management regarding people performance issues and develops managers’ skills in performance standards and metrics.
Strong attention to detail is a must as the position requires detailed examination of the completeness and accuracy of status updates and communications to other functional areas.  Strong management skills with a proven track record of providing direction and leadership to others are also essential. The candidate must be an effective communicator and problem-solver as this position requires innovation in making continuous improvement to existing processes, products and tools. Lastly, the candidate must possess demonstrated skills in leading and managing change.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.
 
  • Lead team in charge of developing and transferring robust manufacturing, testing and/or business processes into Operations in support of Product Development.
  • Ensures the consistent use and evolution of process development practices across the organization.
  • Maintain and build a great team through employee development and recruitment.
  • Take initiative to develop and implement new processes to collect data around and analyze the health of manufacturing work cells.
  • Assists in the creation of performance metrics, reporting and improvement targets for all assay development projects.
  • Increases standardization of work processes continuously improving company’s organizational capabilities to achieve process quality as part of project execution, including an awareness of the need to “do it right the first time.”
  • Supports project teams in process quality activities by educating, coaching and mentoring others on process improvement philosophy, tools and application.
  • Effective communication with all levels of organizational structure, through multiple departments, and across global sites.
  • Perform other job duties as required/assigned
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level on the job site can be loud. 
Education       
  • B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnical Engineering, Material Science or related field with relevant experience in product development, production sustaining, process development, design, scale-up, improvement and validation.
     
    Experience     
  • Minimum of 7 years of diagnostic product/process development/ transfer experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a technical manager.
 
 
Skills
  • Successful track record leading or managing major projects in a regulated diagnostic product development environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract talent, coach, develop, and retain staff.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, make decisions and delegate responsibility effectively
  • Strong leadership and people-facing skills, including proficiency in verbal and written communication.
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields: Enzymes, Oligos, Reagent Formulation, Dispensing, Lyophilization, Master Cell Banks, Plasmids.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control and DOE techniques
